Many travellers arrive in Kerala through Cochin International Airport before heading to Alleppey for a houseboat cruise. Here is a simple guide on how to reach Alleppey from Cochin Airport and other nearby points.
Cochin International Airport (Nedumbassery) is about 85 km from Alleppey, and the journey usually takes around two to two and a half hours by road. This is the most common route for travellers coming from other states and countries.
By taxi, you can hire a private cab directly from the airport to Alleppey. This is the most comfortable and direct option, especially for families and groups with luggage. The drive takes you through scenic Kerala towns and countryside.
By train, you can travel from Ernakulam Railway Station to Alappuzha Railway Station, which is well connected by frequent trains. Alappuzha Railway Station is only about 3 km from Punnamada Finishing Point, where our houseboats depart.
By bus, KSRTC and private buses run regularly between Ernakulam and Alappuzha. This is a budget-friendly option, though it takes a little longer than a taxi.
Once you reach Alappuzha, our boarding point at Punnamada Finishing Point is just a short auto-rickshaw or taxi ride away. When giving directions, mention “Punnamada Finishing Point” or “Nehru Trophy Finishing Point”.
